With the introduction of an all new EV, Mitsubishi i EV to be exact, this Japanese auto maker will be able to attract a slew of new, green and earth friendly drivers. But there's been a few changes made to this eco-car.

Available soon at Biggers Mitsubishi - 1325 E. Chicago Street in Elgin, IL, the "i" in North America is slightly larger and heavier than the European-spec variant. There's also been a price hike - in part due to the devastating earthquake and tsunami, which struck Japan earlier this year.

Mitsubishi announced it will raise the price of its compact electric vehicle by $1,135. That brings a base ES model sticker price to $29,150. You can opt for a better-equipped SE starting at $31,125.

"Those prices effectively drop to $21,625 and $23,625 when the one-time federal income tax credit of $7,500 is considered," according to Forbes. "Option prices remain steady, and include a Cold Zone package ($150) that includes a lithium-ion battery warming system and heated outside mirrors, along with the Premium package ($2,790) that includes a navigation system with rear camera, a hands-free multimedia control system with USB port, steering wheel-mounted audio controls and a DC quick charging port."¹

Luckily, all EV cars in the United States are subject to the $7,500 tax credit, which you receive as a refund. If you're looking for a compact EV that will battle it out with the competition, Mitsubishi has what you need.
